Horoscopes & Ouija Boards

People are always curious about the future. And we always want to be told the right thing to do (but not by our parents!).

Reading the bible as a horoscope or ouija board merely means that we treat the bible like some kind of magic book that is able to reveal to us our future or guarantee our security. We may randomly choose a passage, believing that whatever we read is God's direct revelation to us. Or we take verses out of context - verses that jump up at us - even though the context may be of something totally different from the way we wish to apply the verse.

The truth is that God is interested in renewing our minds (Romans 12: 1,2) much more than in ensuring that we do the right thing and/or make the right decision at every point.
